Good Day, Mavens!

When it is down to buying items, whether it’s food or households, of course you want to make sure you buy what you NEED. The needs are the fundamentals and basic things that you gotta have before anything else. When it comes to life, your basic needs should be food, education, a place to live, and etc. But basic needs apply to a lot of things and that my friend, includes fashion!

Fashion items are one of those items that people see as something indulging since they latch to materialistic. Although a little part of me think the same, but I think that fashion items and investing in them is a good thing; they make you feel good, they make you happy, and if you buy the right stuff, they become long-term investments! Good investments can mean vary too; it’s something that you can wear over and over again, as well as something that is versatile – means that you can wear it to any occasions.

The art of buying fashion items should come the same way as you buy foods; you buy what you NEED first – then, you can do whatever you want.

I want to make sure that all my readers have what they NEED to take on the world – and to make themselves good…and happy. On Today’s post, I’d like to share my 10 MUST-HAVES fashion items that you NEED in your closet; this means that these items are the very basic things when it comes to fashion. It's quite a number but i'm pretty sure that since these stuff are basics, they are very easy to find! Here it goes:

1. A killer skinny or straight jeans

Jeans are very versatile. You can wear it to any occasion (except formals) and its versatility nature what makes jean made it to the list. I love skinny jeans – they make you feel confident since it alters the shape of your body really well…which makes you look skinny too. If you want to only have a pair of them, make sure you invest your money in the right jeans. Some recommendation from me when it comes to jeans brands are: GAP, True Religion, Cheap Monday and Ksubi.

2. A crisp white shirt

A crisp white shirt is probably, the most important thing in this list. You can LITERALLY wear every day and bringing out different looks with it. You can wear a crisp white shirt under a sweater, a blazer, a coat, and even just to have it as an outer over a shirt. The color is very basic thus it matches with almost everything you have in your closet. Make sure that you have this in a very good size, the one that really feels like a glove when you wear it; I have more than 10 sets of them in my closet because for me, it is that important. Having a lot of them is not necessary but I mean, it’s white, sometimes you got stain on it that cannot be removed so my prevention nature is taking over. Some recommendation from me when it comes to crisp white shirt brands are: Uniqlo, MARNI, and Massimo Dutti.

3. A tailored blazer

Blazer is different with suit. Blazer’s fabric is tailored to be less formal than suit (pocket ons) and it doesn’t come with a set of trouser. Blazer is important because you can wear it to some meetings that you don’t want to look very formal in. You can wear this to lunch or dinner – with a pair of jeans or chino of course. Blazer elevates your look – even when you only wear a white shirt and a jean, you can throw in a blazer and your look should enhance. A tailored one is important because we don’t want you to look lousy and lazy – we want you to look smart and proper. Some of my favorites when it comes to blazers brands are: Givenchy, Uniqlo, Lanvin, and Massimo Dutti.

4. Black loafers

My favorite footwear of all. I love loafers since again, you can wear it to every occasion – casual, semi-formal and formal. When you want to play with your look, combining all sort of colors, black loafers neutralize the look, thanks to its basic vibe. I hate derby shoes since the usage is very niche, unlike loafers. I often invest myself more in loafers instead of derby now. My favorite brands that have the most comfortable and chic loafers are: Gucci and Tod’s.

5. White sneakers

70% of my sneakers and shoes in general are white. Why? Because it LITERALLY goes with anything. There is a fashion trick when it comes to white sneakers; guess what? It makes your feet longer, in which, makes you look skinnier and taller at the same time. White Sneakers have become a fashion must have since brands like Adidas and Common projects start to rise in the industry. And I agree, it is needed. You can wear them to any occasions (except formals) and for sure, investing in them is advised. My favorite white sneakers brands are: Common Projects, Celine, Adidas, Givenchy, and Nike.

6. Investment handbag

You think this is only for the ladies? You are wrong! Gentlemen, you need one too! I have this nature when it comes to fashion, I want to invest something that has the best quality. I know it’s expensive but you can always plan your purchase from weeks ahead. What is an investment bag? It’s a bag that can live forever, thanks to its quality…and constant care of course. Every single person in this planet need this in their closet. It accessorizes the look and make your look complete. Some of the examples of investment bags are: Prada saffiano bag, Chanel flap bag, Hermes Kelly bag, and Louis Vuitton epi bag.

7. Cashmere sweater

IF you live in a humid and hot place, if you only want to wear one sweater to wear to your night out, just make sure its Cashmere. Why cashmere? Cashmere is the most delicate fabric ever and commonly used for shawl and sweater. As I mentioned earlier in the post, if you can, save up and invest in something that has the best quality so you don’t have to re-purchase things all over again. Cashmere sweater is so chic that not only it’s pleasing to the eye, but it pleases your skin. So why go cotton if you can only have one? My favorite brands on cashmere sweaters are: Uniqlo, Burberry, and MARNI.

8. Watches

If there is one accessory that you need on your body, is this! Especially for gentlemen, watches are probably one thing you need to invest your money in. Watches are more than just telling the time; it is simply a basic accessory that everyone needs to have. Let’s say for example, if I’m going to the supermarket and just to do some quick errands, the one thing I will always include is none other than my watch. It doesn’t need to be expensive because I know watches cost a lot of money. Just make sure it’s chic and suits your look. Some of my favorite watches are: Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Swatch and Tissot.

9. Sunglasses that match the shape of your face

I live in a place where we only have 2 seasons; tropic and rainy. Suns out, shades out! I love sunglasses and I think everyone needs one. It doesn’t have to be many, but at least you have a pair that suit the shape of your face. Remember, buying the wrong sunglasses can make your face looks rounder and I’m pretty sure you don’t want that. Apart from looking chic, wearing a sunglass can also prevent wrinkles around the eyes...i don’t see any reasons for you not buying it now. My favorite sunglasses come from: Dior and Saint Laurent.

10. A set of suit or dress

Ok, last but certainly not least. Formals. Unless you’re a celebrity, formal occasions will not be as often but it’s good if you’re prepared. Go to some tailors and make your own suits. However, somehow I prefer suits from the stores since I don’t know why, it suits me better. As in for ladies, dresses are versatile – you can wear it cocktail, gowns, or whatever you want but make sure to always check the memo. When it comes to brand, it’s so vary and I cannot specify since most of my suits are tailored. So there you go!

I hope Today’s post helps you to list down the things you need and hopefully you’ll be able to tick them all very soon. Let me know your comments and thoughts and I’d be happy to answer them! See you in my next post!
