Good Day, Mavens!
Being in a professional career is a ticket for one to be surrounded by passionate, hard-working, and inspiring personalities. Well, what am i saying? your life in general, whether you are in a corporate, organization, on your own business, you can be surrounded by these types of people. However, it doesn't matter how superior you see a person is, i'm 99,9% sure that he or she will go through his or her stage of life where they'll feel to unwind and slow down a little. Yes, i can see you nodding yourself because you know that it's true! A living example is, as we approach the end of the year, for those who own a business, for those who work in a corporate or organization, i can feel you! A preparation to welcome a new year with a new forecast and resolutions, closing the book, tons of presentations, and so on and so forth; these my friends, are getting on your nerve!
In the other side, we see people who do outside of those examples yet they feel the same feeling; nerve, stress, depressed, you call it! People who tend to overthink, more money more problem?, relationship is about to cave in, health reasons and etc. If you see the pattern here, it doesn't matter what you do and who you are, you'll eventually face that one bully name stress...BUT, the good news is, you will also, eventually deal with them! It is something that can be solved and definitely tamed down. Me personally, i have dealt with a lot of them; at work, at home, in my social circle, or even with myself. Over the years, i have found several ways to decompress myself from all the noise outside...and inside. I found that these simple yet effective methods work on me and they have become my bubbles and my go to gems whenever i need to decompress. Some of them might feel a little odd to you, and that is ok! Hey, we gotta do what we gotta do to solve this. But, for those who want to try it and need some new ways to decompress, here are little hints for you!
1. Clean your space, haven, whatever you name it!
Yoga, EXCUSE YOU? Cleaning? More effort? Dear God, what i want is to decompress, not to compress myself into sweats??
I hear you but the answer is, i'm being serious. Over the years, i found that living in a clean, organized and hygiene place (or room) really decompress my nerve. You heard what they say...
Take care of your surrounding and it will take care of you!
I find that "THE" process of cleaning my room or my individual space really is a haven for me to just escape. Why so? it's because i pay attention to details to the things that i love! What's that mean? if it's your so called space or haven, im pretty much sure that you surround yourself with the things that you love! Your favorite books, clothes, shoes, piece of interiors, and etc.! I find tidying them up and take care of my things very therapeutic and really change my game. You can start by organizing the way your room looks where the light will kick in, how your vanity will aesthetically look good, how you coordinate your clothes based on colors or maybe functions, and etc. Trust me, it works!
2. Lit scented candles...I know, but thank me later!
Traveling to the mid-west or Switzerland costs you a fortune. You don't have to smell the great forest in Switzerland when you can buy scented candles! I feel like saying "traveling" for a decompress is something very basic. Like everyone knows that. But what i am giving you is an alternative. I feel like litting up a scented candles that i love after going home from a stressful day at work, calms me down. The smell of your preferred smell, a good gardenia, musk, oud, or even spices, give my mind wonders. When i started using candles in my room, i didn't even think that it'll give you other benefits than just a giving your room a little pop. That explains why Yoga class sometimes uses candles, that explains why meditation also corporates candles in it. My favorites are always something from Diptyque. But i occasionally use from Zara home as well.
3. Exercise...OUTDOOR!
If you know me, i am not fond with the idea of working out indoor. Indoor means when you surrounded by air cons. I prefer to breathe in a real air instead of air cons whenever i'm exercising. The one exercise that i have been ENJOYING so much is run. I do it twice a day after work, went to the nearest park and just run for 6-7 kms in like a two hour sessions. I usually do pilates at home in my patio just to make sure i don't breath in air cons. Exercising outdoor also gives you wider perspective thus you don't easily get bored. It's a scene where you can control; if you dont feel like going here, you can go to different parks with different vibes. Exercise in general gives you endorphins, and endorphins will make you happier! I find that run makes my immune stronger as well as a stronger mind as well. I don't easily get upset and it makes me able to control my emotions better.
4. A good shower session followed by a glorious face masking
There is nothing like a good hot shower, a calming body wash, and body conditioner! Oftentimes, people take shower time for granted. They take shower time to quickly and forgetting the essence of therapy in it. Whenever i feel like i need to decompress, i spend quiet sometime in the bathroom and just to clean myself really well and hydrate it with the right products. After bath and during my skincare regime, i like to go extra and do some face masking for 20 minutes. While waiting for my face mask to finish, i usually curl up with a good book or just close my eyes while listening to some jazz music. See? even looking at this you'll feel at ease...imagine if you actually do it!
5. Electronics off, Books on!
Let's be honest, as much as we love our phone and our laptop (especially our netflix subscription), electronics give impacts to your being in both ways: good and bad. Bad as in you see and constantly check your e-mails on your screen, you start comparing your lifestyle to others through social media, and so on and so forth. I have tried this myself. I went off social media for 2 weeks, and just read books whenever i could and i feel much happier. It's not that social media isnt good, like its my job for god's sake. But it's nice to just doze off the day without your phones nor laptops and just try to open a new window that is book. I am very picky when it comes to books; i like history, a self help book, and...magazines. I am currently reading one of my favorite personality's book called "Everything is Figureoutable" by Marie Forleo. I have been waiting to get my hands on this and it's finally here.
