Good Day, Mavens!
When people say that a short getaway helps them to regain their strength, believe them! I think most of the people in the world love to travel, that’s why I stop mentioning travelling when people ask about what my hobbies are. A short trip to a place that is the contrary of where you live is probably one of the best ways to rejuvenate you, as a person – soul, physically, and mind. I promised myself about 2 years ago that travel (short or long) should always come in my to-do list each year just to make sure that I stay sane...and well of course, I don’t limit how many times I go in a year.
Inside promises, there is another promise; one word, BALI! The first time I went to Bali was when I was a child and 14 years later, I did go with my best friends and it was amazing. I live in a country and city that I cherish and I cannot be more grateful that we have one of the best travel destinations in the world – that is why, I make a promise of myself that I have to visit Bali at least, once a year. From people that believe in kindness and the work of a karma, to the local cultures that linger on your personality. From food to fashion, from smoothies to sand – Bali is one thing that you need to include on your check list!
On Today’s post, I’d like to share to my readers on my 3 short but sweet days in Bali. Went there for my Boss’ wedding but of course, enjoying the zen and fun along the way. I’m going to breakdown Today’s post in 3 categories, On Style and On Living (which includes places to go and food to try). I cannot wait to review these all and give some style glimpse on how to look elevated in Bali, of course so my readers can also have the best time in Bali as well, like I did ♡
I’m going to be very frank when it comes to style. I love to stay well-dressed even in an island, because you know, one of the ways to show respect is showing up your best all the time. I know, Bali can be very challenging when it comes to weather, but of course, there will always be some style that alter to that weather…and I’m NOT talking about swimming trunk and being topless all the time (…oops!).
The idea of my style in Bali was to look island casual but still in an appropriately chic zone,
mixing some style that is not a swimming trunk 24/7.
As mentioned earlier, I went to my Boss’ wedding in Uluwatu and the venue was great! We Indonesians always look so formal when we go to a wedding, especially in Jakarta. But Bali is an exception, we can go less formal and align what we wear with the surroundings; island vibe. I went with 2 choices of clothing and I love it!
I went to several new places and visited my all-time favorite place as well – and let me tell you now, these places were amazing! I did my research before I go and everyone should too – these places did not disappoint. From food to local stores, even some places that I visited just to give candies to the eye. Below are some of my favorite places that I would recommend and why do I think it’s worth the visit!
The Slow in Canggu
Ambience is very good, coffee is great, but tbh for room's fee, is expensive - you can get better prices with the same mood and view. I would recommend this for a quick coffee stop and just to have a conversation with your travel buddies.
Cuca in Jimbaran
For those of you who like to explore food, this is the answer! They make food like art and most importantly, they taste good! If i can recommend, go for their risotto, their tacos, and their gnocchi. They taste so good your dinner will be so satisfying! Don't forget to make a reservation first 3 days before since they are full most of the time.
St. Regis Resort in Nusa Dua
You all, this is probably the highlight of my trip. Simply the BEST breakfast i have ever had in my entire life. I made a breakfast reservation to Boneka, a restaurant located in the St. Regis resort - and girl, probably the best decision ever. The food was out of this world, and let me tell you, i have never seen any better service than the service demonstrated by the St. Regis employees; people were very nice, they showed very good initiatives, and what i really like about them is that they don't treat us, locals, any different with foreigners. It's like all of them just have the best work ethic and kudos to the management team for making such SoP! I would totally recommend you to go here...sorry let me revise that. YOU MUST go here! 6 stars out of 5!
Settimo Cielo in Seminyak
I love restaurant that just gets it. I love when they learn the pattern of what their customers really want. Settimo Cielo is an Italian restaurant and the food was great! They provided a menu where you got to taste every single food - so yes you can call it as an all you can eat menu. They will provide you little portions of every food and i would totally recommend this gem to you all!
Karma Kandara Private Beach in Uluwatu
This is my go-to beach club whenever i go to Bali. Simply they have the best beach and the food that they provide was great as well. I always have the best experience here BUT, somehow this time when i went there, a few false notes from this place. One is their elevator was broken and they did not info this in advance (since i called them and asked a few questions) We had to take 200 stairs down and 200 stairs up and...yes, you conclude that. Second, i was disappointed by the employees who always favor the foreigners and didn't treat us, locals, as the same. We paid the same price, we were nice, so why the difference in service?. All in all, i still recommend this place and still is my favorite beach club. It's a little far from the central but it's totally worth it.
To conclude, it was a short but sweet trip to Bali. Discovered new amazing places and will put them to my always visit list whenever i visit Bali. Let me know your thoughts on this! Have you been to the places that i went? what's your experience? and what is your style preference when you go to Bali? Questions are also welcomed and i'll try my best to respond to them!
p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
