Efficiency: How to Sparkle in Careers with The Most Important Ethic and Style

Good Day, Mavens!

One of the biggest feedback I receive from people, professionally, is that I am VERY fast-paced. Not only my bosses, subordinates, and colleagues, but people in general say so. I don’t know if people sometime see that as a weakness, but I’m pretty damn sure, most of my career/professional life is saved by my efficient ethic. I of course also take other important business ethics into the calculation as well; ethics like personality, perseverance, and etc. But somehow, efficient shines to me the most and here is why!

Being efficient is that important to me. It saves time, it allows you to do other things beside work, and etc. For those who say that they can’t juggle life, maybe this is the perfect post for you! In this post, I would like to share my tips in juggling your career and your everyday life using my efficient method. I don’t say my method is the best, but at least it works for me.

I have a job that I love, I have a personal life that I cherish, I still got to do writing on the side, and…I have 8 hours of sleep every day. Those who say it can’t be done, they are too pessimistic!

In this post, I will also feature some of pictures of mine on how to look career chic but is still semi-formal. We hate being formals to work let’s just be real here! Anyways, Here’s how to sparkle in efficiency and doing it, in style!

1. Early birds, Fly first

Arriving early to work or meetings have helped me to prepare anything better. Planning is that vital you folks, really! By arriving early, you can actually slot your “early” time to plan everything ahead. You can start your to-do list early – I usually write them in my journal every single day and that REALLY helps me in finishing my projects on time. Besides planning, arriving early helps me to digest the environment of the place and somehow it makes me less nervous to execute on something.

2. Ask yourself this question “What can I do in this amount of time?”

This is the question I ask myself every day or even the day before. By asking this question to yourself, you will start to think. How much time do I need to finish this project? The last project that was similar, It required me this much time…can I press it down? – you folks, I cannot emphasize enough on this. If you want to get it all, you have to compete with time and as we know, time has no mercy. You can’t compete, you lose.

Time will be very friendly with you if you pay attention to them! Slot them and they will slot time for you!

3. Break is important!

I am not crazy. I take break, lots of them. But my ability to take breaks that I want is because I slot my time very well. During your break, don’t look at your e-mails (this is hard since im still practicing) and socialize as much as you can. Getting back on track in the meantime, is also challenging. What I usually do is to have a one-two minute sit down and just remind myself on where was I before I took a break? Just have that silent moment first and knock it out.

4. Why wait if you can ask?

The one thing I want you to know is that you need to have the gut to have something that you want. Sometimes our clients and our bosses tend to make us wait for something illogical. All you got to do is ask, and make a statement…in the very polite way. I learned this in my previous experience in advertising, ask your client “does this require my presence? If yes then why?” If they ask you to stay until specific time and no results are seen in nearer future, you make a statement “if this doesn’t seem to be solved by X time, I have to leave and we’ll continue this first thing in the morning” and be the early birds that you are so you have enough time to be done with this. Folks, I know this is hard to do. But again, do you really want that life outside work? Then you have to fight for it. It is necessary and can actually affect you as a person.

5. Learn the art of prioritizing

In life, you have to prioritize. What are things that matter to you the most? – making it in order is good for you. I’m going to make myself as an example. For me, things that matter the most (1st tier) are my family, my best friends, my health, and my faith. The things that are important (2nd tier) to me are my job, my website, my network and my net-worth. The things that are so-so (3rd tier) is anything indulgence – shopping and other guilty pleasures. By having this, you will know on things that you should prioritize and pay attention to in LIFE – not only work, but LIFE.

And if you see my most important list, those things are things that are priceless.

I love to dress for work. Well not every single day, but most of the time. Some pictures for my readers on how to look chic semi-formal but is still appropriate for seizing your professional life!

There you go, Mavens! I have still a bunch of points that I want to share when it is down to efficiency. Maybe a part 2 of this should be in the nearer future? – Anyways, questions and feedback are welcomed! I will try my best to answer them.

p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how-tos
