Good Day, Mavens!
So last year in this time around, I went vegan for about 1,5 months. The effect it gave me for my health is amazing yet for the skin, it was ok since I haven’t used any skin care around that time (I know, so ridiculous). As I have mentioned in my previous post, I started to use skincare in September but my food intake was all over the place. During late June 2018, I wondered what would happen if I combine both things? Both meaning that maintaining a healthy lifestyle and combine it with the best skin care products that fit my skin!
Result wise? IT’S AMAZING! Why can I say that? I see a very good improvement in my health and not only that, I see my skin (not only the facial part) but the skin on my entire body started to change onto the next level. When people say that healing your skin is as important in the inside, I can really validate this saying.
What you consume and what you do, Matter!
On Today’s post, I would like to list down my 5 successful actions to heal your skin from the inside. My points will include dietary as well as some simple actions that you can do to not only pursuing that glow skin, but to stay healthy! Oh and one more thing, my results are actually proven by researches too!
1. Go plant based diet!
I love my greens. And for me personally, the best diet that truly benefits you not only for the short term but also for the long term is a plant based diet. Of course I did my research on this! - according to the American Academy of Dermatology, foods that contain a low glycemic index like vegetables, beans, and grain bread have improved the skin of 86% of the respondents who took part in the research. I don’t believe in keto diet because come on, really? - Plan based meaning I only eat food coming from plants. However, I cannot be that extreme that’s why I still eat fish when it comes to meat. Consuming fruits and veggies help my skin to glow and reach its maximum potential. My advice is to also do some research on plant based food that is beneficial for your skin. I’m gonna give you an example of what I eat in a day just to give you some ideas…
In the morning I always ALWAYS make sure to start my day by drinking a glass of water (sometimes i infused my water with lemon or orange, which is good for a detox, but sometimes i drink it as it is). Next, it’s either I drink a cold-pressed juice that mostly veggies or I eat 2 gold kiwis; kiwis are very good for your skin and after all, it tastes so good! In the afternoon, I eat baby spinach salad and kale with 6 healthy toppings like salmon, black olives, corn, soba, broccoli, potato, and chick peas. I like snacking believe me. But when this is tricky since a lot of snacks contain bad ingredients. Therefore,
before you go snacking, CHECK the ingredients.
I usually go with coconut flakes and ginger, vegan and raw desserts, and etc. For dinner, I usually go with something that is not too heavy. Burgreens is my favorite vegan restaurant and I usually order their vegan dumplings or a meatless cassava Bolognese. If you want to make your own dinner, you can go with sweet potatoes, avocados, and anything that contains good fat!
2. Dairy free!
That’s right everyone. Avoiding dairy is probably the most important advice I can give to improve your health and your skin. Dairy products use milk and according to Own on Huffintonpost, the hormones contained in milk will make a way to your body, in which will increase the level of your inflammation! Avoiding dairy has given me so much benefit. I haven’t had acnes in 3 weeks really and I only talk the truth.
In addition to that, my skin on my entire body feels healthier as well – no itchiness, it becomes less dry, and dewy for sure. People have been saying that my skin looks healthier than ever and that should be the best compliment when it comes to skin.
The picture at your left is a photo of my skin UNEDITED after I go dairy free. I’m not saying that you should go dairy free forever, I am human too – I need ice cream and brownies in my life. All I’m saying is maintaining a balance in everything is the way. For example, I go dairy free for a month in every 3 or 6 months. During my dairy free period, I use fruits and anything raw vegan to supply my blood sugar and it feels amazing too!
3. The oxygen obtained from your exercise!
I do Pilates and run. I don’t believe in gyms since it’s indoor and I hate when I exercise, I inhale an air from the air conditioner – I like to do it the conventional way. I do pilates in my room with my windows open and run around the block at 4 – 5 PM (don’t forget your sunblock!).
But why has exercise improved my skin too? The answer is Oxygen! When you exercise, blood reaches more part of your body especially your face – blood carries an oxygen to your face which will give a food to your skin from the inside. Additional info from VOGUE Australia, exercise produces fibroblasts, which generate collagen – collagen rejuvenates the skin and can promote anti-aging! Isn’t this magical?
4. Get an enough amount of sleep
I have been noticing this for a while – when I say a while, I’m talking about 3 years back. When I tend to sleep very late, my sleeping pattern the next day will also follow; the result? Not good! Acnes start to show up and that’s so annoying. Getting enough sleep in is the key to also improve the healthiness of your skin. I sleep 8 hours a day and it couldn’t be any fresher than that!
5. Stay hydrated. Always.
This last advice is in EVERY healthy advice. Whether you want to heal your skin, prevent diseases, blood flows, and etc. All health will come down to this. Drink sufficient amount of water will do your skin a justice – from avoiding and curing dry skin, to your general health as a whole. We aim for the best, don’t we?
I hope that my lessons learned inspire you to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Remember, i don't promote anything extreme. Be balanced. It's hard i know and that's why you should start one step at a time. Keep me posted if you choose to follow these steps which i have applied to myself and...it works. See you on my next post x
p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
