#ISSUETAKEOVER: No-makeup makeup; don’t they sound counterintuitive? by Nadia Sabrina

As pointless as the concept may seem, to me this kind of look is the absolute best. It’s so damn easy, you only have to enhance the natural features that you’ve already got with a bit of makeup. So I was very excited when Yoga DM-ed me to do a bare-faced makeup challenge, and here’s how I’d do my version!

I always start with eyes first, so if you mess up here you won’t have to redo the entire face. My eyebrows’ heads are fuller but the tails don’t have so much hair. So I like to fill them in using an angled brush loaded with some black eyeshadow called Charred from the Gold Glitz palette by Absolute New York. I love this A17 angled liner brush by Aeris Beaute because of how dense yet easily maneuverable it is.

My eyelids (and I’m sure all of ours) have that natural, brown-ish darkness towards the lash line and I love that. It’s like a natural eyeshadow. So I like to accentuate that by applying a brown matte shade called Nutty from the same eyeshadow palette with my ring finger all over the lids and taking the color on the lower lash lines as well.

Next, I lightly coat my top and bottom lashes using Pixy Make It Glow, Lash It Up mascara. I love how you can get natural or even va-va-voom lashes with this local product. It’s seriously so good at lifting and separating the lashes, it has made my Hourglass Caution mascara run for its money. Bold claim, I know. But you’ll see how good it is when the look is complete on the video!

Today’s foundation of choice is the Rollover Reaction Cushion Compact in the shade 102 Honey Toast, another local product that I enjoy using. I dab some of the product using my finger and then blend using the 133 Medium Shader Brush from Karis Cosmetics on some areas I’d like to add a little bit of coverage to, so my skin still kind of looks like skin. After all, it’s a bare-faced makeup look anyway.

My cheeks are naturally red, so I just apply a little bit or rouge using one of the shades from the Passion 03 lip palette by the French brand Rouje.

On the lips I dab the shade Verse 93, a beautiful beautiful brown-ish nude shade from Trope Cosmetics. Then, I add a light layer of Wardah Instaperfect Mattesetter Lip Matte Paint in the shade Chic, otherwise known as the most universally flattering pink that’s got a bit of brown in it. To make it appear even more natural, I kiss the back of my hand and blend the colors using my finger in a dabbing motion so the products mesh well with my lips.

And that’s my take on the bare-faced makeup challenge. How would you do yours? What are your hero products from this kind of look?

p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
