If you ask me on one thing that excites me the most while travelling is to find new fragrances. I live in Indonesia so we don’t have much variety of choices here compared to Paris and Tokyo. I tend to post about my fragrance briefly on InstaStories or my Instagram feed…maybe verbally too. I will surely touch that topic on my blog soon and write it in details.
My interest in fragrance has captivated the attention of a brand from Melbourne, Australia. Someone sneaked in into my Instagram DM and said that they love to do a collaboration with me. The collaboration is in a form of a review and content creation. Before saying yes to the collab, I did a little research on the brand and the brand has quite a reputation. The brand is Solid State. It’s a fragrance beauty brand for men from Melbourne. They have been featured in GQ, D’Marge, and Urban Outfitters. I said yes to it and they sent me one of their fragrance collections. I always love the smell of spices – from mandarin, wood, to cranberries and ginger. Therefore, they were kind enough to give me my preferred smell based on my interest; they gave me “Drifter” a combination of mandarine, ginger, and wood - they price it at $ 39.95
My review on the product is going to be as honest as it gets. I do NOT get paid to write this, I just feel like reviewing the product whether it is worth buying or not. I am breaking down my reviews into two categories, the #Pros and #Cons.

It’s ERY compact. The size of the cologne is very small so it’s easy for us to carry it everywhere. To the plane, slide it in your blazer, jeans, or bag, and etc.
It smells good – but smell is relative. Judgement will be based on what kind of smell you look for. For Drifter and for those who love these ingredients, I think it smells good. Furthermore, the smell when the cologne is IN the container is exactly the same when you have them on your finger. What you smell, is what you get.
Local made. It’s nice to have products that assembled and created in the country of origin. Just bring a variety in a sense of ingredients and line.
I love the fact that they are very easy to apply. When you rub it on your fingers, it sticks very well thus you don’t have it to do it 3 or 4 times to have the cologne on your fingers.
They’re giving the steps to apply very thorough – it’s an unusual type of cologne so this is important.
It doesn’t last long. Somehow it says “long lasting” on the guide book, but in my opinion it doesn’t stay as long as I wanted it to be. Cologne should stay around 3-4 hours and the smell is gone by before that.
The people around you cannot really smell it unless they are REALLY close. This is a little tricky for me since the purpose of why I’m wearing a fragrance is because I want to smell good and show some respect to my surroundings.

All in all, I think this cologne is good to have. BUT, I probably wear it for a commute and a more laid back activities. It’s good to have variations so you can be festive ;)
Thank You Solid State for the collab! x
p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos!
