#ISSUETAKEOVER: Let's Talk Makeup! by Nadia Sabrina

Updated: Jul 3, 2020

Good Day, Mavens!

Due to recent events that we all hope will soon come to an end, i know things can be a stressful and just awkward. For those people who stay home in self quarantine, you are my people and thank you for being home for everyone's sake! But let's be honest, things can go...a little awkward at home when you run out of ideas what to do; there is when we kick in! So if you have been here for a while and got the chance to see my video post about things that i love, i did not do it alone. A good friend of mine who is a complete make up mogul was the one who actually initiated the idea; @lipstickismyvice! I've known her since middle school and one of her biggest passion is makeup. She just gets it and i'm always somewhat impressed with anything she does (no joke and not because of the fact that she is my friend).

We went out in December just before i left for Rome and i just threw the idea of her writing in my website because clearly, i don't wear makeup! I always feel that it is one of the most seek content and while we're her then we might as well do it, yes?; she said yes a second later. I'm so excited for you all to see how she does her makeup and how makeup has made her feel. You can re-do her routine at home during self quarantine, so you're good to go once this thing is over! Tag her and tag us when you decide to try her makeup routine! All you see below is @lipstickismyvice writing as well as photos. Enjoy x

When Yoga asked me to write about my top makeup items aka the makeup I (kinda) can’t live without, I immediately thought of these products that I’m about to share with you. I mean, how could I not? These are the staples that I use almost everyday. They help me to create my go-to look-good-feel-good look. To me this is also a fool-proof look; you don’t need to be pro at makeup to make this look work! So if you’re a makeup noob, I think you can try to do this easy look without fail.

First, let’s talk brows. I have more hairs on the head of my brow, but not so much on the tail. So I usually fill in the sparse areas on the brow tail using a black eye shadow that’s not super jet black, because it’s too stark for my liking. So I prefer a grayish black. I use Charred, a grayish black shade from the Absolute New York Gold Glitz eye shadow palette with a Zoeva angled eye liner brush to create hair-like strokes on the outer part of my brow, and then take whatever’s left on the brush to drag the remaining shadow on to the head of the brow, so everything looks cohesive.

To add more something something to the eyes, I apply the shade Nutty from the same palette on to my eyelids. It’s a reddy brown that never fails to make a beautiful fuss-free smokey-eye. I then finish off the eyes by coating my lashes with the Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara. It makes my eye look even more dramatic, which to be honest, is all I wanted and more.

To create that faux post-workout flush, I dot a little bit of Glossier Cloud Paint in Storm on to my cheeks and blend using my fingers. And finally, my most favorite part of doing a makeup routine; lipstick. I’m currently in a red-lip moment. To me a red lip can make anyone look extra bossy, brightens anyone’s complexion, and elevate confidence. It’s loud, it’s bold, but you can totally tweak it to make it look more subdued. My absolute favorite is the Pat McGrath Mattetrance Lipstick in the shade Guinevere. As the name would suggest, it’s a matte lipstick but it’s not drying and feels super lightweight on the lips. Best formula out there.

Even though I don’t go out these days I still play with makeup, just to entertain myself amidst what’s going on in the world. The moment I do my makeup is also something I see as my zen kind of moment, when I get to “self-care” myself.

What’s your go-to makeup look/way of caring yourself? Share on the comments below! ;)

p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
