Self-doubt Kicking in? Overcome it With These 7 Points!

Good Day, Mavens!

The day to day basis of our life is based on the decision you make the day before, the minute before, or the second before. It might seem easy huh? not until you are faced with the one that comes with a risk, or the one that actually creates cute butterflies in your stomach. I want to discuss something that has been such a hurdle not only to our late generation, but also to our current generation. Being creative and constantly putting our ideas out there don’t seem as easy as they sound to be. I can say this because my experience has taught me a lot of the power of self-doubt. Not in a good way, but the other way around. Some of my friends are undergoing this problem too and I can honestly say, these are real problems and you (speaking to myself too) need to do something about it.

One of the traits and my definition of a success is when you are confident with yourself. Being confident can help you to achieve whatever things you set your mind to. Confidence can be defined into so many words, it can mean courage, brave, inspiring, and etc. When we talk about confidence, the biggest enemy you can encounter is none other than self-doubt. Self-doubt can come from internal and external. When we talk about internal factor, self-doubt is the sound in your head that constantly says that you’re not good enough, the sound that constantly says that you’re not ready, and the sound that if you follow, will make you regret for the rest of your life. But what about the external factor? Easy! Negative criticism, people judgments' and those sounds that tell you to stop.

Listen, self-doubt is a one problem one cannot avoid. This will occur whenever you’re about to make some decisions (even the smallest ones), when you’re about to make some innovations or business, even simply on casual chats with your friends. I’m here to help you as best I can. The most important thing is, how do you cope whenever self-doubt kicks in? what should you do? That’s the question! Worry not, worry not. All you need to do is to handle that with a class act! But how to do so? I have several tips that you can use while handling your self-doubt, the on that comes internally and externally.

1. Practice your decision making through day-to-day activities

You want to handle self-doubt? Let’s start small! Practicing your decision making on little things daily can really help. For example, should I go to the market by car or by foot? Should I drink water now or in 5 minutes? – the purpose of this is for you to be comfortable with decision making. Not only that, it will practice your problem solving; take really good considerations before you actually decide. I believe in small steps and taking it one step at a time. Practicing these little things shall train yourself to be sure of yourself and regain the confidence in you to determine what is next. In addition to that, the more you’re sure of yourself, the less dependent you become.

2. You will never be ready! Do it before you’re ready!

One of the biggest things you can encounter on self-doubt is the voice telling you that you’re not ready. You know what? Screw it! You will never be ready, so you might as well do it now! Start early! I read a lot of stories from billionaires and successful people, one of the reasons they are successful now is because they start before they’re ready.

3. Digest your criticism well!

Now this, is important. When someone criticize you, you need to be able to digest it before you take it into account. Who is this from? Is the person giving this criticism has made it yet? Has he or she made a positive impact on her or himself? Because if the answer is no, don’t even bother to take them into account. Sometimes we become too sensitive when it comes to criticism; the voice in our head just rejects the truth. But if the critic comes from the right person (filter it with questions I just mentioned) it can really, really help you to grow.

4. Never put “pleasing everyone” list on your agenda

We tend to hold back things because we are uncertain about the respond we’ll get from whatever things we are doing. Look, people will comment anyway so you might as well just do it. Don’t make things to please people, do it because you love it. Do it because it helps you and your community to become better individual(s). What you do is your business, what people think about you is none of your business.

5. Surround yourself with positive people

You know what, this does help! I came across an advice from my friend that surround yourself with positive people does work. I did it and I felt so much better. Surround yourself with people who will support you and give you a necessary comment whenever you need it. Remember what they say, you tend to become like the people you surround yourself with and you need to make sure that you do it right.

p.s. eliminate the irrelevants off your life, they waste your time!

6. Dress to impress yourself!

Trust me on this one, you’ll feel great in an instant. No further advice.

7. Be brave, have no regrets!

I’m gonna close this post by saying, whatever you wanna do, if it creates positive impact to yourself and the community, do it. Do it and have no regrets. If it’s successful, you rock! If it doesn’t, you rock! I know, I now. It’s easier said than done. You will be scared by the fact that you might lose things if you take the wrong decision. Therefore, practice it every single day, start from the smallest things. Before you make a bigger and heavier decision, take some time and dig dig into it; e.g. you can make it in a form of pro and con. Does the pro weigh the con? Or is it otherwise?. Whatever you do or eventually take, stick to it and own it. Because truly, experience is the best teacher. See? You got nothing to lose!

I'm not even going to ask that whether you have been encountered with self-doubt or not because i am 100% sure, you had...or you will. But how did or you plan to cope with it? do you have any other advice that might help our fellow readers too? Sharing is caring and i'd be happy to hear some thoughts and questions. We hope these help!

p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
