Self-Quarantine? DIY Your Own Bash at Home! Try These 7 Ideas!

Good Day Mavens,

Over the years, i always spend 1 minute before time hits 00:00 AM during New Year's Eve by expressing my wishes silently for the upcoming year. Last new year, i was so lucky to be able to spend my NYE with my family in Rome. We spent it just in front of a 60 AD building with a hope for a 2020 magic. Fast forward to March 2020, which here we are, things do not go so well in the world. I'm pretty sure you are all agree with me as the news that we've been hearing globally aren't aligned with we, or at least, i prayed for that split second.

2019 has made sure that it makes its mark in 2019 in a way we are totally not a fan of; COVID-19. As you all know, the current disaster that we are all as a global citizen are facing is this annoying virus. As i'm writing this, global citizens have started to do social distancing, stocking up some food and home supplies (folks, please check your neighbors if they need anything), and most importantly, we are now doing as we called self-quarantine; it's a form of a self isolation at home in a hope the virus does not spread from person to person any further. I know, it's annoying but this action is necessary. Look forward, always!

Self-quarantine is a good action to prevent someone in being contaminated by the virus. But, let's be real, self-quarantine can be a total bore. And in fact, we do not know exactly until when are we going to self quarantine ourselves at home. Seriously, worry not! Remember our tagline? life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos. We have a few DIY actions that you can do at home to erase your boredom and besides, we believe that life at home should always be the best!

1. Check Your Closet! Make Money Out of It!

One of the things that i have been doing these last 3 days is actually curating a few of my stuff inside the closet that i am no longer wear. I have always said that closet cleaning is very therapeutic and guess what, it can also earn you some money! It's a good idea to start curating your clothes that you don't wear any longer. You can either donate it, which is awesome, or you can sell them if they are mid until up level brand. Such a good thing to spare your time to actually doing it because guess what, i'm 99% sure you won't have the time before this!

2. Learn How to Cook Your Favorite Food!

I hate cooking. Sorry let me rephrase that, i CANT cook. It's something i think i will never master despite having to live in Germany alone back in the years. If cooking your favorite food seems like impossible (i easily give up when it comes to cooking) you can try easy peazy recipes - like salad or a simple aglio olio pasta. You folks, seriously, try this one out and you'll be amazed how you will be addicted to it. Even if it's a french toast with jams, burn your time by practicing your cooking skills. This skill will be useful even if your self quarantine is finished! So, why not start now?

3. Home Friendly Exercises!

Ok, here's the thing. 3 days being at home, not going anywhere, i am eating whatever i want. Which is...well...its 50:50. I'm having fun but it bad for the shape of my body. I feel like, there's always a way. I used to be a 100kgs and i didn't have any class pass access nor did i even go to a park for a jog. What did i do back then? pilates! Yes. Home mat pilates is the...best...Home mat pilates is a pilates workout that you can do in your home only using a yoga mat.

Screenshoted from Blogilates YouTube Channel, which you can find right about here

Being quarantine is somewhat nerve-wracking because to be frank, it takes guts to even go outside your house. Home pilates stretches your body, it strengthen your cores, will help with your postures and it actually burn calories. Such a very good idea and i totally recommend this to everyone. No instructor? folks, there is this thing called YouTube! It's free and it works. My favorite pilates instructor online is non other than mrs. @Blogilates - 95% of my pilates sessions are done following her steps.

p.s. clean your Yoga mat first with sanitizer before use :p

4. Don't be a snacker, be a gardener!

See? eating too much does re-evaluate yourself on what ways you can do beside snacking. A good friend of mine once mentioned, don't be a snack, but be a garden! Don't be eaten, but feed them! Totally agree! i have never done a gardening before, BUT i think it would be a wicked and fun idea to do while you have nothing to do at home. I have been so entertained watchning Jamie Chua from Singapore YouTube channel about her side hobby which is gardening. She plants lemon tree, aloe vera, mint tree and etc. It's so refreshing seeing her picking all of her food supplies from her garden because lets be real, whilst everyones rushing to the market, she can easily pick them in her garden! You can start small! Maybe with flowers or mint leaf. It's not something that you would do in usual days but even watching them, i feel very accomplished!! Imagine if you're actually doing it!

5. It's time to re-connect with your old friends or extended family, not ex,...digitally!

People always questioning the fact that i'm close with my elementary school. I get confused how to answer that because well, i do keep in touch with them. Frankly speaking, i'm not really close with my extended family. No bad blood whatsoever. But, these couple of days i've been reaching out my aunt who is my mother's older sister. We've been talking and just exchanging a way of life in which, i'm very grateful for. You'll be amazed how reconnecting will make your mind more open minded to new perspectives and how maintaining them will save your life!

6. Plan things you wanna do once self-quarantine is declared unnecessary

Planning does not come only from your work. Real life requires one as well. This is the continuation of what my previous point. Once reconnect with them digitally, once everything is safe, reconnect with them in person! Planning comes in various definition. You can plan your next holiday destination, courses you want to join (i already have one in mind), museums you want to visit, restaurants you want to try, and etc. This will save your time. Once everything is cleared, Dora the Explorer is ready to explore!

7. Plant this, always: the one who gives it, can take it ♡

Last but certainly not least, in whatever your situation you are in, always remember that there will always be a greater power. If you don't believe in religion, coolio! But for those of you who are, remember that God created this but He can always take it away in a flash. Take this time to really evaluate and be closer to Him, ask for His guidance and ask for His protection. After all, that all that matters!

I hope that this brightens up your day even just a little bit. In this kind of situation, humanity is being tested and sense of support are needed more than ever. Take care of yourself, your family, your best friends, neighbors, pets, and everyone who needs help. Stay safe, Stay cautious but not hyperbolic, and stay healthy, everyone!

p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
