Good Day, Mavens!
If you haven't noticed, my love and support for local designers have been growing so much since i figure statement pieces they design. From those who use traditional local province's fabrics, to embroidered and organza embellished with stunning, stunning details. If you ask around my inner circles about which local designers i would recommend, Sapto Djojokartiko is always on top of the list. This has never been nor is sponsored since i always buy their pieces with my own money, and out of love and adornment.
It was Sunday night when i checked youthemaven inboxes and the sweetest Sapto Djojokartiko slided into my DM and ask for my presence during their F/W 2019 show on March 26th. I RSVP-ed 10 days later (you folks, i was crazy busy and i almost had a mental breakdown) and thus i tend to forget a lot of things these past few weeks but hey, i made it! I was excited to attend since this is my first Sapto Djojokartiko show and each previous show always made me want to swipe my credit card and just enjoy their creations; and this time, i had the privilege to go!
When i received the invitation and when i arrived to the show, there was not any notes. Hence i searched it myself. This collection of Sapto is inspired by the late Sriwijaya kingdom; a kingdom located in Indonesia long long time ago. It was beautifully represented through the color palette. However, what i like about Sapto is that doesn't matter what inspire and collection it is, you can always know its a Sapto Djojokartiko piece; Its ethereal choice of classic colors like pick, gray, and light brown as well as its famous embroidered and layered finish (you know how much i love layers).
Those are some glimpse when the show was about to start. As you can see, i'm always the earliest. Theres no fashionably late in my dictionary; when you're late, you're late! Anyways, there are some pieces that i thought were so beautiful i couldnt stop taking pictures and enjoying them! On this post, i'd like to list down a few of my favorited pieces along with my reasonings - but, perfection is boring! Therefore, i would also recommend one or two things that the brand might want to look at!
1. Beautiful Colors!
If you've been my readers since the very beginning, you know how i adore colors. I feel like good choices of colors' mixture could rocket your outfit from zero to hero! Sapto's famous color choices are usually basic like blush pink, gray and etc. But i'm very happy that in this collection, they show some bold move by showcasing such solid colors like you see below! The entire collection is in my opinion, is based on the first picture you see (top, left). Kudos for Sapto to play outside its comfort zone and girl, i'm in favor!
2. D E T A I L S
If you think Sapto, the first thing that'd come up on your mind will be details. Why? because Sapto's pieces are always have something to do with embroidered which is crazy good! In this collection, i feel like the choice of embroidered and the choice of how they combine their embroidery and colors are genius. I couldn't stop staring at the pictures that i've taken just to see how detail it can get; and it's never disappointing. From outter, to finale gown - carrying its roots, these pieces are somehow irresistible!
3. Diversity and Inclusivity
Out of design context, i just wanna share how happy i am to see women of colors walking down the runway, wearing beautiful pieces. Sapto has beautifully included women of colors to its casting and i just appreciate it so much because that's all we need not only in that industry, but also in other matters. If you can refer to the video below, this is the video that i captured during the finale! Diversity represents! I know it's not as much as we want it to be but folks, its a learning process and we're taking it one step at a time!
Out of all the show, my request on the room of improvement is just this: don't you know that men also a good market for fashion? I love how Sapto Djojokartiko's design is very feminim and they empower women to look the best. BUT, men are good market to be in touch with. Like the last collection of Sapto, they created BEAUTIFUL pieces for men and we want that to happen not only one collection, but for future collections as well. There were a few outters that men can tap into from this collection but hey, why don't you try to start targeting men again?
Despite that, this show has done such beautiful justice to my morning, to the eyes, and to the soul. This post is NOT sponsored or anything, im writting this beacuse I'm simply happy that the collection was beautifully and professionally wrapped where we, customers (not all), could enjoy! Kudos to Sapto Djojokartiko team and i look forward for this collection to launch and to their next collection of course! Before i close this post, what do you think of this collection? do you have any 2 cents on this? as usual, comments and questions are welcome because we love good and healthy discussions!
p.s. life is not elusive, you just need to know the how tos x
